Ground Up & Rising in the News...

Critic's Pick: The Indian wants the Bronx

Christine Dolen, Miami Herald

Tackling both a new space and an acting challenge, the young theater company Ground Up & Rising opens its production of Israel Horovitz's The Indian Wants The Bronx at 8 tonight on the Kendall campus of Miami Dade College. The Obie Award-winning play, about two punks who hassle an Indian immigrant on his first day in New York, stars, from left, Carlos Alayeto, Arnaldo Carmouze and Arturo Fernandez. Each weekend throughout the play's run, Carmouze and Fernandez will switch roles, giving a different flavor to the production, which is being the directed by actor and fellow company member Bechir Sylvain. The Indian Wants the Bronx runs through July 15 at Miami Dade College, Bldg. M, 11011 SW 104th St., Miami. Performances are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $20 (students $15). Call 305-726-4359 for information.
